Physics Education Study Program Profile

The Physics Education Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung, is an A-accredited study program from BAN-PT, which aims to produce superior Bachelors of Physics Education through the implementation of quality Tri Dharma of Higher Education and sustainable national and international collaboration. The study program, currently led by Dr. Viyanti, M.Pd., is working to improve the quality of the study program towards superior accreditation and international standards.

The Physics Education Study Program was established based on the SK Dirjen DIKTI No. 103.Dikti/Kep/1984, dated August 21, 1984. The first academic year for the Physics Education Study Program was 1983/1984. At the beginning of its establishment, this study program only had 3 permanent lecturers and several lecturers from other faculties, such as the faculty of agriculture and engineering. The establishment of the Physics Education Study Program is in accordance with the University of Lampung’s Master Plan for Development or Rencana Induk Pengembangan (RIP) in supporting faculties/departments in preparing Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education or Pendidikan Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (PMIPA) personnel to meet the needs of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education-based job market.

In 1986, the Physics Education Study Program accepted Diploma 2 and 3 Programs to meet the need for teaching staff at the junior high and senior high school levels. However, in 1992, the diploma program was closed because the need for teaching staff at the junior high and senior high school levels had been met. In 1996, the Physics Education Study Program received an operational permit with number 213/Dikti/KIP/1996. By 2011, all lecturers (100%) had Master’s degrees with qualifications in Physics Education, Science Education, Evaluation, and Learning Technology, with 20% holding Doctoral degrees, and 40% currently in doctoral education.

By the end of 2023, the Physics Education Study Program had 17 lecturers, with qualifications of 3 (18%) professors, 8 (47%) doctoral, and 9 (53%) master’s degrees. Lecturer qualifications cover the fields of Physics, Science Education, Educational Evaluation, Learning Technology, and Physics Education. From the beginning until the end of the 2019/2020 academic year, the Physics Education Study Program was accredited B. After that, from 2020 to 2025, the Physics Education Study Program was accredited A by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT).
